Holland & Holland, makers of the world’s finest sporting guns and Overfinch, designers and manufacturers of exclusive Range Rover enhancements since 1975, have joined forces to create the ultimate luxury off‐roader. The Holland & Holland Range Rover was conceived with a single intention: to create an all purpose, all season, luxury supercar for the discerning few.

Designers and engineers at both Holland & Holland and Overfinch have worked together to create a car that embodies Holland & Holland’s unique sporting heritage and Overfinch’s bespoke craftsmanship. The result is a quintessentially English take on luxury. Based on either the 5.0 litre 503 bhp Supercharged or TDV8 versions of the new 2010 MY car, the Holland & Holland Overfinch features a raft of enhancements that make it unmistakably something very special.

Daryl Greatrex, Managing Director of Holland & Holland, said, “Holland & Holland is globally synonymous with both luxury and supreme functionality. To look at, to handle and shoot with a Holland & Holland is to appreciate 174 years of using the best craftsmanship and technology to make things work supremely well and look even better. It’s ten years since we had a Holland & Holland Range Rover and we decided that working with Overfinch was the only way to do it this time. Over the years it has become clear that what AMG is to Mercedes and Alpina is to BMW, so Overfinch is to Range Rover.”

In a blow to the pride taken by Italy’s police in their two most glamorous patrol vehicles, one of the cars was clipped by a Seat as the more modest car was edging its way out of a petrol station near Cremona. The impact sent the exotic police car flying into a line of parked cars.

The accident happened near the northern Italian town of Cremona where it was on display at a student jobs fair. Reports say the car swerved to avoid another vehicle which crossed into its path, ploughing into two stationary cars. It was damaged beyond repair. One of the two officers in the vehicle at the time of the incident suffered a broken rib, the other received bruises.

The Lamborghini car, painted in the Italian police force’s blue and white colours, was a gift to the force from the carmakers in 2004. The six-speed luxury vehicle with a 500-horsepower engine is designed to go from zero to 100km/h (60mph) in four seconds. Lamborghini donated the two cars, capable of reaching speeds of more than 200mph and accelerating from 0-62mph in just four seconds, to the police in 2004. They have since been used to help patrol the country’s roads where speeding motorists contribute to almost 5,000 road deaths a year.

Things you need to know about the new GT3 RS. First, the gap between it and the cooking ‘997.2’ GT3 on which it is based is much bigger than it was between the first-generation 997 GT3 and GT3 RS. I’ve tried to think of a simpler way of saying that, but I can’t.

Whereas the old RS was a slightly lighter, lairier-looking version of the GT3, this time the car has more power (up 15bhp to 444bhp), runs shorter gearing and has a much more aggressive aero package. Basically, Porsche is positioning the GT3 as its standard fast-road and trackday weapon, but giving the ever-increasing numbers of circuit-obsessives a car that is, ostensibly, designed to be used on a racetrack most of the time.

There are weight-saving measures everywhere. The option to delete the hi-fi now includes stripping the speakers from the doors, 8kg is saved by using a single-mass flywheel (which is 1kg lighter than the old RS’s flywheel), and a £1000 lithium-ion battery pinches a further 11kg.

While most of us are drooling over the prospect of driving off into the sunset with the supercar of our dreams, two people who attended the recent RM Auction in London went home with super exclusive supercars.

Two of the main attractions at the said auction were a pair Mercedes-Benz CLK GTRs – one was a 2005 Coupe version and the other was of the 2006 Roadster variety. Expensive and rare – only 20 coupes and five roadsters were ever built – at the same time, the CLK GTRs sold for a combined £1.1 million – a ’somewhat’ bargain price considering the ‘beyond exclusive’ tag attached to these two cars.

While the two new – and lucky – owners of these cars were not identified, we do know that the 2005 CLK GTR Coupe sold for £522,500 while the 2006 Roadster version fetched a pretty cool £616,000.

It also goes without saying that the GTRs are not your prototypical Mercedeses. Fine-tuned by no less than HWA, the cars come with a 6.9-liter V12 engine that’s capable of churning out up to 612 horsepower. In addition to that, the two models also came with reinforced features including a six-speed sequential manual gearbox, a dual independent double-wishbone suspension, and carbon fiber brakes.

Source: Best of the Best website.

This is the new Porsche Boxster Spyder and, as the arrival of any new Porsche tends to be a polarising event, you’ll either be sighing in disgust or yelping in delight. The bare facts? This Boxster Spyder is Porsche’s lightest and quickest current-gen roadster yet thanks to the folding roof being junked.

The Spyder will be unveiled at the LA Auto Show in December 2009, and it’s not a run-out limited edition like previous Spyder-tagged Boxsters, but the third (and most expensive) permanent addition to the roadster range.

So the new Porsche Boxster Spyder doesn’t have a convertible roof?
Well it does. Sort of. To create the Spyder Porsche has binned the folding roof and all its associated mechanics, and in its place comes a bit of cloth that attaches to the windscreen and hooks onto the new rear deck. Even with the side windows up and the glass wind deflector in place, there’ll still be a few gaps letting the wind in. It’s only meant for low-speed driving – Porsche quotes the 166mph top speed without the roof. Shouting to be heard, we presume.

And that new rear deck?
It’s the most noticeable difference between the Spyder and a standard Boxster – there’s now a big pair of power domes behind the rear seats and a larger rear spoiler. Other tweaks include revised side intakes, a new front bumper and those retro stickers.

What about inside, or under the (mid-engined) bonnet?
The interior gets some fancy door pulls from the GT3 RS and weight-saving carbon buckets. Sports suspension, a lower centre of gravity and – at a relatively trim 1275kg – an 80kg weight advantage over a Boxster S should make the Spyder the sharpest Boxster yet.

And with an extra 10bhp from the engine – taking the total from the 3.4-litre flat-six to 316bhp – and the Spyder is also two-tenths quicker to 62mph than a regular S, knocking the benchmark sprint out in 4.8 seconds.

Normal Porsche options like PDK, sat-nav and ceramic brakes will be available, the stickers will be a delete option, and customers should also be able to swap the hardcore seats for more comfort-oriented items. UK sales start in February 2010 with prices set at £44,643, just a few grand more than a Boxster S. Want one?

Lamborghini presents the ultimate driving machine among open-top two-seaters – the Reventón Roadster is a sports car of breathtaking fascination, menacing power and uncompromising performance. The 6.5 liter twelve-cylinder generates 493 kW (670 PS), catapulting the Roadster from 0 to 100 Km/h (0 to 62 mph) in 3.4 seconds and onwards to a top speed of 330 KM/h (205 mph). The open-top Reventón is not only one of the fastest, but also one of the most exclusive cars in the world – Lamborghini has limited the series.

The Lamborghini Reventón is not destined to remain a one-off. Less than 20 Lamborghini friends and collectors will be able to own this extraordinary car and, naturally, enjoy the incomparable pleasure of driving it.

Each Reventón Roadster will be sold for 1.1 Million Euro (without taxes). Deliveries will begin October 2009.

“The Reventón is the most extreme car in the history of the brand”, comments Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. “The new Roadster adds an extra emotional component to our combined technological expertise – it unites superior performance with the sensual fascination of open-top driving. The Reventón Coupé was presented at the 2007 IAA in Frankfurt and was sold out immediately.

Open-top sports cars are a tradition at Lamborghini that stretches back over 40 years. In 1968, the company from Sant’Agata Bolognese built a Miura without a fixed roof as a one-off. The Diablo Roadster appeared in 1995 with its targa roof anchored to the engine cover.

All Lamborghinis are created with an avantgarde approach to design; a fast-moving technical sculpture. The Reventón Roadster is derived from the same creative thinking as the Coupé. Its designers found their inspiration in aviation – the aggressive wedge shape evokes images of fighter jets.

The powerful arrowhead form at the front, the mighty air intakes pulled way forward, the broad side skirts, the upwards opening scissor doors and the rear end with its menacing edges – the Roadster is clad in a design of maximum functionality and spectacular clarity. Details set stylish accents, such as headlamps featuring bi-xenon units with LEDs forming the daytime running lights and indicators. The rear lamps are also equipped with LEDs.

Like the Coupé, the Reventón Roadster measures 4700 mm (185 in.) long. It has a wheelbase of 2665 mm (105 in.) and is 2058 mm (81 in.) wide and 1132 mm (45 in.) high. The driver and passenger seating positions are low and sporty, separated by a substantial central tunnel.

Behind the two seats are two hidden pop-up bars that deploy upwards in just a few hundredths of a second in the event of an imminent rollover. A fixed, horizontal wing-shaped member behind the seats bears the third brake light. The design of the Roadster’s long back is also quite distinct from that of the Coupé.
Keating revealed today the first image of the TKR supercar, a model that was claimed to become the fastest ‘production’ car. Tony Keating announced a top speed of 260 mph. The Keating TKR is powered by a 7.0 litre engine that delivers a total of 1800hp.

Press release

British supercar manufacturer and challenger for the production car world land speed record, Keating, will have its 260.1mph TKR supercar on display at this year’s MPH Show featuring Top Gear Live at London’s Earls Court on 5 November.

In the first of two runs on the Salt Lake Flats in California last month, the remarkable 7.0 litre, 1800 BHP Keating TKR smashed the current record, adding an extra 3 mph to the top speed of existing title holder, the Shelby Aero TT. Now the Manchester based company must do it again to ensure entry in the Guinness Book of World Records.

But before it returns to California, the breathtaking Keating TKR will make its MPH show debut in London tomorrow in front of capacity crowds.

Tony Keating, founder of Keating Supercars, said: “The Keating TKR realises our ambition to take on the world’s finest supercars and win. This car rivals them all for looks, handling, performance and exclusivity. And best of all, it’s British.”

The awesome piece of engineering will be on the Reef Paint Shop stand at MPH The Prestige and Performance Motor Show. Reef Paint Shop Managing Director, Andrew Figini, said: “We are delighted to have the association with Keating and be part of the MPH Show.

“We stripped the original red colour and replaced with a gloss black finish with custom flair in candy-brandy wine before clear-coating – it looks spectacular when the light hits it.”

Developed mainly to infuse and combine design elements from iconic Stingrays of the past to create a more cutting-edge version for the future, the 50th Anniversary GM Corvette Stingray Concept is an eye-catcher in every sense of the word.

According to General Motors, the Corvette Stingray Concept was a project undertaken with the sole objective of taking the brand to newer heights, all while retaining its iconic legacy. So in an effort to puts some weight behind their goal, GM left no stones unturned in developing a concept that its predecessors can be proud of. Among the features found in the Corvette Stingray Concept is a clamshell hood, scissor doors, rear-view cameras with night vision enhancement, ergonomic seats, and of course, a high-performance hybrid. In addition to that, the car also comes with a state-of-the-art inertactive touch control system that allows drivers to manipulate the cars power and efficiency depending on their liking as well as use their settings to share with other people via the cars advanced telemetrics and in-car system.

With a brand as esteemed as the Stingray, it would’ve been foolish for GM to not exert any and all efforts in creating a car that can live up to the legend of the iconic brand. Fortunately, GM knows better than most of us that preserving the status held by the Stingray in the annals of automotive lore is something that should never be taken lightly, and the 50th Anniversary Corvette Stingray Concept is proof of that.

The McLaren MP4-12C is revealed as the first in a range of high-performance sports cars from McLaren Automotive, the independent car division based at the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking, England. The 12C, and future models within the range, will challenge the world’s best sports cars, benefiting from the expertise and virtuosity of the McLaren Group.

Twenty years of sports car design, engineering and production combined with inspirational success in Formula 1 have driven Ron Dennis, McLaren Automotive Chairman, to announce his plans for the ultimate line-up of technology-led and customer-focused performance cars for the 21st century. The rules in the sports car world are about to be re-written.

A Rich History

Through a rich modern history, McLaren’s automotive division has already built the world’s most critically acclaimed supercar, the McLaren F1 (1993-1998) and the world’s best-selling luxury supercar, the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren (2003-2009). McLaren Automotive now looks to the future with a new range of revolutionary sports cars.

“It is a long-held dream of mine to launch a range of high performance sports cars that set new standards in the industry,” said Dennis.

An Awesome Supercar

“We began designing and building cars for aficionados of thoroughbred sports cars almost 20 years ago. Incorporating the leading edge technologies that the McLaren Group has built up within its various companies, I believe we are now perfectly placed to open up this new chapter in McLaren’s history as well as play a part in the regeneration of high-tech manufacturing in the UK and global automotive environment,” he concluded.

Source: Best of the Best website.

Noble first appeared on the scene with the odd-but-good M10, and then captured the automotive world’s attention with the amazing M12 and M400. Now there’s a new car, the M600, with a 650bhp twin-turbo V8 and a 200k GBP price tag. Ambitious? Certainly.

The P2 prototype – looks gloriously edgy with its matt-black bodywork – and for a thorough poke around the mechanically identical and production-ready P3 prototype. The latter is the light blue car you’ll see to the left in our related articles and in a couple of weeks’ time we’ll be back in it for a proper road test. Meantime, here are our early driving impressions of the Noble M600 …

What has Noble been up to over the last few years? Quite a lot. Company founder Lee Noble has left, the rights to the M12 and M400 have been sold to American company 1G Racing – which now sells it Stateside as the Rossion Q1 – and the M15 that was to replace the pair has been thoroughly redeveloped.

Power now comes from a Volvo V8 rather than a Ford V6, the redesigned body is carbonfibre rather than GRP, and the interior is bespoke rather than fitted with budget Blue Oval bits and pieces. The name has changed too – to M600 – and the price has risen from a proposed £75k to 200,000 GBP.

£200k? Wow – so what’s the Noble M600’s interior like? Very nice, though a little awkward for a tall chap like me to clamber in and out of. But once you’re over the wide sill (covered in carbonfibre) and sat snug within the comfortable Sparco seat everything seems special. The steering wheel is a tiny, tactile, leather-covered item, and there’s a little button hidden behind it that lets you switch between a track day-friendly exhaust note and one that’s (ahem) a little bit louder.

Ahead of the driver are the rev counter and 240mph speedo, while unique-to-Noble toggle switches and dials look after the air-con and other interior systems. They – along with the aftermarket hi-fi – are set within an immaculately finished carbonfibre centre console. The only off-the-shelf parts that you’re able to spot are the air vents, the Audi-sourced interior lights and the same Ford group stalks that you’ll find in an Aston Martin.

And there are other nice touches too, like the fuel and oil filler caps hidden beneath the intakes that sit just behind the side windows. It’s a huge step beyond Nobles of old (the M15 prototype had the steering wheel from a Mk1 Focus), and it only lacks the ultimate sense of occasion that other supercars carry off because there’s isn’t a Prancing Horse on the steering wheel boss or 50 years of racing history.
