New! McLaren MP4-12C

The McLaren MP4-12C is revealed as the first in a range of high-performance sports cars from McLaren Automotive, the independent car division based at the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking, England. The 12C, and future models within the range, will challenge the world’s best sports cars, benefiting from the expertise and virtuosity of the McLaren Group.
Twenty years of sports car design, engineering and production combined with inspirational success in Formula 1 have driven Ron Dennis, McLaren Automotive Chairman, to announce his plans for the ultimate line-up of technology-led and customer-focused performance cars for the 21st century. The rules in the sports car world are about to be re-written.
A Rich History
Through a rich modern history, McLaren’s automotive division has already built the world’s most critically acclaimed supercar, the McLaren F1 (1993-1998) and the world’s best-selling luxury supercar, the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren (2003-2009). McLaren Automotive now looks to the future with a new range of revolutionary sports cars.
“It is a long-held dream of mine to launch a range of high performance sports cars that set new standards in the industry,” said Dennis.
An Awesome Supercar
“We began designing and building cars for aficionados of thoroughbred sports cars almost 20 years ago. Incorporating the leading edge technologies that the McLaren Group has built up within its various companies, I believe we are now perfectly placed to open up this new chapter in McLaren’s history as well as play a part in the regeneration of high-tech manufacturing in the UK and global automotive environment,” he concluded.

Noble M600

Source: Best of the Best website.
Noble first appeared on the scene with the odd-but-good M10, and then captured the automotive world’s attention with the amazing M12 and M400. Now there’s a new car, the M600, with a 650bhp twin-turbo V8 and a 200k GBP price tag. Ambitious? Certainly.
The P2 prototype – looks gloriously edgy with its matt-black bodywork – and for a thorough poke around the mechanically identical and production-ready P3 prototype. The latter is the light blue car you’ll see to the left in our related articles and in a couple of weeks’ time we’ll be back in it for a proper road test. Meantime, here are our early driving impressions of the Noble M600 …
What has Noble been up to over the last few years? Quite a lot. Company founder Lee Noble has left, the rights to the M12 and M400 have been sold to American company 1G Racing – which now sells it Stateside as the Rossion Q1 – and the M15 that was to replace the pair has been thoroughly redeveloped.
Power now comes from a Volvo V8 rather than a Ford V6, the redesigned body is carbonfibre rather than GRP, and the interior is bespoke rather than fitted with budget Blue Oval bits and pieces. The name has changed too – to M600 – and the price has risen from a proposed £75k to 200,000 GBP.
£200k? Wow – so what’s the Noble M600’s interior like? Very nice, though a little awkward for a tall chap like me to clamber in and out of. But once you’re over the wide sill (covered in carbonfibre) and sat snug within the comfortable Sparco seat everything seems special. The steering wheel is a tiny, tactile, leather-covered item, and there’s a little button hidden behind it that lets you switch between a track day-friendly exhaust note and one that’s (ahem) a little bit louder.
Ahead of the driver are the rev counter and 240mph speedo, while unique-to-Noble toggle switches and dials look after the air-con and other interior systems. They – along with the aftermarket hi-fi – are set within an immaculately finished carbonfibre centre console. The only off-the-shelf parts that you’re able to spot are the air vents, the Audi-sourced interior lights and the same Ford group stalks that you’ll find in an Aston Martin.
And there are other nice touches too, like the fuel and oil filler caps hidden beneath the intakes that sit just behind the side windows. It’s a huge step beyond Nobles of old (the M15 prototype had the steering wheel from a Mk1 Focus), and it only lacks the ultimate sense of occasion that other supercars carry off because there’s isn’t a Prancing Horse on the steering wheel boss or 50 years of racing history.

Lexus LF-A

This has been one long gestation. The new Lexus LF-A has been teasing us at motor shows around the globe since 2005’s Detroit expo, but the wait is nearly over. The LF-A supercar will be shown at the 2009 Tokyo motor show and our spies have caught the best glimpse yet of the new V10 Lexus.
So what’s new on the Lexus LF-A? The design of the LF-A has been upgraded from the concept’s: the headlights hiding behind the light frontal disguise will be less scalpelled and air vents now punctuate the bonnet.
In place of the concept’s bullet-cam door mirrors come a pair of conventional mirrors, while the front grille is changed, with extra cooling vents built into the valance. Cooling the big V10 is clearly a big issue. The triangular triple exhausts remain.
A Lexus supercar … fast and quiet, or rorty and naughty? Very much the latter, we hear. CAR’s Ben Barry drove the LF-A at Goodwood this summer and came away mightily impressed. ‘We’ve just driven one of the most intriguing and exciting cars of 2010,’ he raved.
The LF-A will top 200mph, in excess of 500bhp and 400lb ft ensuring that the 60mph benchmark is dispatched in less than four seconds.
And it follows the classic big coupe format. The engine is amounted far back in the front engine bay, the wheels are suspended by double wishbones and a multi-link rear axle, steering is by rack and pinion, and the brakes are carbon ceramic to wipe off the mphs. The transmission will be a six-speed automated manual, operated by paddles.
When can I buy a Lexus LF-A then? Only one stumbling block remains. Lexus plans to build very few LF-As – just 500 globally, and the price will reflect that exclusivity. We’ve previously been tipping a 200k pricetag but we now hear it will be significantly higher than that.
Yes, the LF-A is likely to cost in excess of 300,000 pounds. Blame the carbon and aluminium construction. It’ll be an epic car, but you’ll need deep pockets to join the club.
We wouldn’t be at all surprised if they launched a roadster version (a la SLR) in a few years’ time to recoup more of the development costs.

Koenigsegg Trevita

When sunlight hits the car, it sparkles like millions of silvery white diamonds infused inside the visible carbon fibre weave bodywork. Trevita is an abbreviation in Swedish and translates into – three whites. The Koenigsegg visible carbon weave body work is renowned around the globe for its perfection and uniqueness. However, so far it has only been possible to utilize the classic black carbon fibres.
As Koenigsegg always strives to create new unique technologies and solutions, we have now reached a new milestone -The Koenigsegg Proprietary Diamond Weave.
By utilising a new and unique method, Koenigsegg has managed to coat fibres with a diamond finish. The process was fully developed at Koenigsegg headquarters in Angelholm Sweden, where the fibre treatment is conducted carefully in small quantities, prior to further processing the prepreg material.
Koenigsegg will only produce three Trevitas in total, hence the name. This makes the Trevita one of the most rare versions in the Koenigsegg family cars.
The three cars are fully equipped with Koenigsegg Shimmering Diamond Weave bodywork, double carbon wing, paddle-shift, inconell exhaust system, carbon ceramic brakes with ABS, hydraulic lifting system, infotainment system, tyre monitoring system, chrono instrument cluster and airbags.
And now the most interesting part, Koenigsegg said that they will only produce three Trevitas in total, hence the name, which automatically enthrones the supercar jewel as one of the most rare cars in the world.
